For this series I wanted to explore textures and patterns in nature with an abstract view on the world. My goal was to abstract the image enough that even if only for a second, the veiwer has to question what they are looking at. While I wanted the image to be abstract and draw the audience in, I wanted the content to be things we pass every day: ant beds, puddles, vines, weeds, and trees. Another way I tried to abstract the images is by playing with scale. I tried to photograph things that when printed could be viewed as something from a great distance as well as something for a very close and intimate perspective. For inspiration I looked at photographers such as Edward Weston, Linda Connor, Rinko Kawauchi, Anna Atkins, Ray Metzker, and Emmet Gowin. All photos were shot on 35mm BW film.
